Inquiry Evening for those considering standing for the election. Wednesday 1 May, 7-8pm in the School Staffroom

Elections will be held in May/June for a new Board of Trustees. Elections will be occurring throughout New Zealand for all schools, and these elections give you the chance to nominate and vote for who you would like to represent you on the Board for the next three years.

Our Board consists of five parent representatives, four representatives of the proprietor, the principal, and a staff representative.  This election is for the five parent representatives.

For the continuing good governance of the school we need trustees who are willing to offer their time and their skills, and who represent the variety of perspectives and experiences that can be found in our school community. You are not required to be an expert, but you do need to be responsible and enthusiastic and be prepared to spend time attending monthly Board meetings (and other meetings as necessary), plus training sessions as appropriate, and to take responsibility for getting things done when needed.

The board follows a charter, which sets out long-term goals and annual targets determining the school’s priorities. The board is the employer of all the school’s staff and is responsible for:

Where: School Staffroom

An informal meeting with a few representatives of the current board to discuss the role and answer any questions. All parents considering standing for the election are strongly encouraged to attend this.

8 May: Close Main Roll

10 May: Call for nominations by

22 May: Close Supplementary Roll

24 May: Nominations close

29 May: Voting papers sent by

7 June: Election Day (voting closes) noon

13 June: Count votes

14 June: Board take office
