First Holy Communion

Jacinta Nicholls —

The Parish is preparing to launch the first holy communion programme for 2024. Here is all the information for prospective whānau.

This formation programme is for families who have a child that would like to be fully initiated into the Catholic Church through preparing for and receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. We are delighted to be able to support your family on this faith journey. Your child needs to be baptised and over the age of 7.

The programme will take place on Sundays (at St Patrick’s, Kaiapoi) and begins with 9.00am Mass followed by formation for both child and parent/s. These sessions will support and guide you as parents as you prepare your child to receive these Sacraments.

This programme requires a commitment to attend every Sunday (as below). The sessions are a mix of activities, music, learning and discussion.

Sunday 24th March - Palm Sunday

Registration is at St Patrick’s Church, Kaiapoi on Sunday 24th March and all families with children seeking First Holy Communion are asked to attend. Beginning with 9am Mass, we will then have morning tea followed by an outline of the programme and registration.
