Learn an Instrument

Ben Gorman —

St Joseph's has a number of great music tutors who provide reasonably priced lessons at school.

Over the last couple of years St Joseph's has developed a strong relationship with the North Canterbury NZ Modern School of Music. The manager, Erin Grigson has a strong team of music tutors available who can offer private tuition in a number of instruments including:

  • Piano
  • Flute
  • Recorder
  • Clarinet and/or Saxaphone
  • Trumpet and other Brass
  • Vocals
  • Music Theory
  • Guitar
  • Bass Guitar
  • Ukelele
  • Drums

Prices vary from $80 - $250 per term. Lessons occur at school during class time.

Erin and two of her tutors did a little demo for students yesterday. They are also offering community instrument demonstrations for parents - see the flyers attached if you are interested in attending one of these.

To see the performance quality of the two new tutors you can see their youtube compilations here:

- Eve (vocals)

- Keagan (drums)

If you are interested in registering your child in instrumental lessons through the NCNZ Modern School of Music please complete this expression of interest form. We will pass your details on to the respective tutors who will be in touch with more information.

We also have the services of Clarrie Light who has been teaching music to primary school students in North Canterbury for over 50 years. Clarrie's details are included below. He mainly offers introductory lessons in small groups. You can contact him directly about possible tuition at St Joseph's.
