The Ministry of Education imposes a maximum roll for our School. We have currently at this maximum and will be for years to come.

The latest Census data tells us that the Waimakariri grew 18% since 2013. State schools have the ability to grow as the population does. However, integrated schools like us need to apply to the government if we wish to increase our maximum roll.

We are currently going through this process... and hope to be allowed to add a couple more classrooms in the future. However, both the decision and timing are out of our hands.

In the meantime - if you know of anyone who has children who wish to attend St Josephs, please encourage them to enrol as soon as possible. We currently have a wait-list for 2020. 

Likewise - if it is likely or possible that your children may be leaving St Joseph's in the future please let us know as soon as possible. There are great families on the wait-list who a desperate to start here.

Accompanying conversations about roll growth are the plans to redevelop the school / church site. It is likely that the school's main location will change, with the main classrooms being shifted and/or rebuilt where the current Church and Presbytery sit. This is an exciting opportunity which will likely require large scale community input to help us obtain the best school campus possible. Watch this space we will keep you updated as we know more.
