The Big Heist
Time to come clean! Many of you will have seen or heard about the mysterious thief who has been taking our balls... here is the full story
It started with a staged crime scene and the vanishing of our sports gear.
Today it ended with an "arrest", explanation and big reveal.
After falling foul of someone acting as "Carmen Sandiego" - we have come clean on the big heist. It was of course staged with a two-fold purpose:
1. Remind students that sports gear is a privilege, not a right. That they need to show a little more respect for it moving forward!
2. Introduce them to the character of Carmen Sandiego.
Many parents grew up in the generation where this was the go to computer game at school (often on the old "Apple 2e computer). Some children have seen the board game or Netflix series - but that wasn't universal.
We wanted everyone to know about this international thief because we are using "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" as our 2021 school musical.
Staff and students have started planning what country and corresponding songs they will represent in the musical. We will have a lead cast, complete with villains, detectives and other important characters.
The musical will be performed in the Rangiora Town Hall on the first and second of July (hopefully with a full audience).
Later in the term, we will be calling for parent helpers to form a staff/parent production team to share the responsibilities of staging our musical. WATCH THIS SPACE
