Never See a Need

What are we doing about it?

Ben Gorman —

Every day we witness others in need. It is a privilege to observe the collective an individual responses to these needs in our community.

St Mary MacKillop of the Cross had a famous saying:

"Never see a need without doing something about it"

Over the last 12 months we have had some members of our community in great need. The response to this need has been momentous.  Meal rosters, give-a-little donations, raffles and prayer vigils are just some examples of how we have responded when we see those in great need.

However, how well do we respond when we see a "little" need. Big needs are sometimes easier to respond to because we can take our time responding. Little needs often require a more instantaneous response that we might not consider. The little needs can be easy to miss too!

Our challenge is to look for those who need just a small and instant "pick me up". Holding the gate, smiling, saying hello, inviting them for coffee or just taking five minutes to listen to their woes. When we do these things we are a true witness to the love of God.
