Updated Protocols

Ben Gorman —

After two weeks functioning at Level Two, we have reviewed some of our practices. With only three active cases of COVID-19 in the South Island we have decided to relax some of the restrictions that were put in place.

The following alterations to our COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan will come into action from Tuesday 2 June.

What will change:

  • Parents will be encouraged to continue to drop-off and pickup - but will be permitted to come onto school grounds. They must report to me where I will have a clipboard to do a contact tracing register. Parents will not be permitted into the classrooms and must still physically distance.
    • MORE INFORMATION ABOUT PICKUP/DROPOFF WAS PROVIDED IN LEAD ARTICLE OF NEWSLETTER
  • Full collaboration/interchange between classes can resume.
  • The library will be functioning as usual.
  • Extra-curricular activities can resume next week. This includes outside presenters/instructors as well as our own things like choir, Kapa Haka, PAL's etc...
  • Playground restrictions will be lifted. (Apart from the fact that playground will remain closed before and after school - students will be asked to go to the class upon arrival).
  • The usual roster for Mass to resume on 11 June.

Key points that remain:

  • Hand Sanitiser at beginning of the day and before morning tea and lunch
  • Washing hands after morning tea and lunch
  • Piwakawaka will still use the Korimako cloak bay until the end of the term. Music lessons will occur in the staff office.
  • No assemblies - however, a class each week to lead prayers on a Friday (via Zoom)
  • Daily cleaning of hard surfaces in the classroom
  • Zero tolerance to possible COVID-19 symptoms at school
