Message from the Tumuaki

Denise Torrey —

He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa - Warm greetings to all.

We have successfully made it to the end of what has been a rather disruptive term. I admire our tamariki, whānau and staff who have been able to"pivot" and adjust to the "new normal". We are increasingly amazed at our tamariki Independence skills, they continue to shine as SMART Somerfield Kids.

Next term gets underway with swimming. If we are under Alert Level 2 you will NOT be able to go down to the pool to watch and we will have limited helpers for NE - Y2.  Year 3-6 will not have or need parent helpers. So fingers crossed for Alert Level 1!

Congratulations to our literacy quiz teams. They showed they had the R in SMART by being resilient and coping with the disruption to their event. It still happened but without the teams being together.

We are hoping 2022 will be different.

Thank you to our  Community Council for organising our Cancer Society Daffodil Day. Congratulations to everyone as $752 was raised.

Next term our PTA is offering a gluten free option at the sausage sizzle. Please fill in the survey.  (See article in newsletter)

Our virtual assembly will go ahead on Friday. You have been emailed  the link on Tuesday. To ensure the privacy of our tamariki and all individuals associated with the school we follow the key principles of the privacy act 2020. To help us meet these requirements please adhere to the following rules.

1. Please do not pass the link onto others.
2. Entry will be registration only.
3. You can register by filling in the google doc.
4. The virtual assembly will be available to those registered from 2pm-8pm on Friday the 1st of October at which point the link will no longer work.

By registering you are agreeing to follow the school privacy policy.

Once again, thank you for the great support. I hope you manage to enjoy some of the lovely Spring weather with your children these holidays.
