Message from the Tumuaki
He mihi mahana kia koutou katoa - Warm greetings to all.
A huge thank you to all our tamariki and their kaiako for the wonderful art exhibition. If you haven't been in to see it you have until 4pm on Friday.
On Tuesday we were entertained by the amazingly talented Kahukura chorale. We had a number of current and ex Somerfield kids performing. Well done to Leo Baker, Maadi McCormick, Akaisha Brown, Sophie Davies, Maisy Crosson, Sophia Parfitt and Katie Chinn.
Next week ERO visits Te Komanawa Rowley. The school is on a one year cycle and ERO are looking to see the progress made since their last URGENT report in November. Thanks to the Rowley staff, our Acting DP Kym Scown and the Somerfield Te Kura Wairepo team of Abby Blanch, Karen Haines, Daniel Caigou and Rowan Lockton, we are hoping to share the significant progress made. After next week I will move into an advisory role for the school, Kym will become Acting Principal and the rest of the Somerfield staff will be based back at Somerfield. Next year I'll remain in the advisory role and Rowan Lockton and I will offer other support to the school. I'd like to thank the Somerfield Te Kura Wairepo team for their tremendous support and the use of their expert, practical skills in working with the Te Komanawa Rowley staff and tamariki. I'd also like to thank the rest of the Somerfield staff including the admin staff, who all played an important role in supporting us to support the school. I'd especially like to thank the Somerfield Te Kura Wairepo BoT for their vision. When I came to them with this model they saw the potential in supporting others who are part of our "village". I am confident that ERO will see the benefit of this model to the tamariki at Te Komanawa Rowley.
