Message from the Tumuaki

Denise Torrey —

He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa - Warm greetings to all.

Yesterday was very busy with two great events for our kura to be part of.  We had a team of 45 students compete in the Zone Athletics. We had a very successful day with many placegetters and a number of students who will go on to represent us at the Central Athletics event, competing on the 29 November.

In the evening we had well over half our tamariki perform at the Kahukura  Community of Practice Maunga Teitei festival.

It was a real treat being together as seven schools to watch all the tamariki perform.

Congratulations to our tamariki who performed and delighted us with their energy, enthusiasm, volume and yes, we got the cute factor as well. Somerfield Kids certainly shone with more than over half of the school  performing and with tamariki across all levels of our kura.

A big thanks to our staff for helping out last night particularly Jacob Katsipis and Daniel Caigou. Daniel also did us proud as MC but I'm betting he arrives at the meeting early next year when they are organising the roles for the night!

Thanks to whānau that supported our tamariki last night. We were well represented as there were so many of you! It was great to see you there. I'd also like to thank the large numbers of you who stayed on to enjoy the last two schools. I think this showed respect for the tamariki who had put in the effort and their kura. Thank you again.
