Message from the Tumuaki

Denise Torrey —

He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa - Warm greetings to all.

It would appear that you can't open a newspaper or a news APP at the moment and not read about online safety, bullying or abuse. We will now have an article once or twice a term to keep Whānau informed of resources and ideas to help you and your tamariki navigate the potential perils.

Last week some of us attended an online presentation by netsafe. Some of what was covered are in the links in a separate article.

On the last day of the term, you will receive your child's report, detailed information, and booking details for Re-Connecting Learning Conferences in Week 2 of Term 3. Due to COVID these conferences will be different from previous years. You will be able to book either a face to face or an online 15-minute conference with the teacher. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss your child's learning and we expect your child to be an active participant in the conference.

If you wish to discuss any matters about your child please email the classroom teacher and make a time.  You do not need to wait for the Learning Conferences.

Congratulations to the following tamariki who have been selected for the school Literacy Quiz teams. These teams will compete on 1st September.

Cordelia Jones, Lavinia Jones, Isabella Revolta, Niamh McWhirter, Sophia Katsipis, Elly McHarg, Ann Chen, Xanthe Raxworthy, Matilda McKenzie, Jemima Hemingway, Florence Lithgow, Lottie Greggains.

These tamariki are now reading a number of books in preparation for the Quiz. They are going to be busy over the next few weeks!
