Ventilating Classrooms

Ventilating Classrooms in Cold Weather

One of the safety features we use in all our spaces is ventilation. This is one of the best ways along our single cell classes, hygiene and masks to keep our tamariki safe.

Obviously it is getting cooler and schools have been given advice to still open windows and doors but of course we will still be using heating!

Pre COVID I was super vigilant about windows and doors open with heatpumps on because all I saw was money going out the windows!!

The staff are amused that now I've had to change my tune and am  ensuring windows and doors are open while heatpumps are going! We have been given advice on the best way to manage this but as the weather gets cooler our tamariki will need more clothes on in their spaces even with heating.

With the cooler weather they will need their sweat shirt and  polarfleece or their school jacket. If your child is particularly sensitive to the cold I suggest they wear thermals under their polo shirts and leggings as well. These need to be in line with our school colours - navy blue, red or white. No multicolours please.
