Message from the Principal

Denise Torrey —

He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa - Warm greetings to all.

Welcome to Term 3 and didn't get off to a great start with our Science Day? A huge thank you to our parents, caregivers, teachers and members of the science community who ran workshops on the day. Our children had a greater understanding of the breadth of science and how it affects their lives from the experiences of experiences offered.

The learning theme for this term is "growth". This science topic will be interpreted in different ways by each of the ropu. They will let you know in their Term 3 newsletter.

You will see that our new building has not arrived onsite . We have had a bit of a delay but hope it  will arrive in the next 3-4 weeks. We look forward to having it on site so we can complete the design and get the actual work underway.

Last term our learning theme was Enterprise. Many of our children undertook designs for the grounds. Some of these children will be selected to talk to the landscape designer about their ideas.

On Monday we had a team compete at the Expo8 competition at South Intermediate. Congratulations to our Year 6 team who got 2nd.

Student safety is paramount so please do not be offended if you are asked to move if you are parked on the yellow lines by the Somerfield Street crossing. Our staff continue to report that this is an issue. Aside from the fact that it is illegal , it makes visibility for the students who are on road patrol very difficult. These are children trying to act responsibility to ensure those who come across the crossing are safe. Please help them out!

It also continues to frustrate parents when others do not use the zone area on Somerfield Street correctly. This zone is to drop children off. Please do not leave your vehicle and take children into the school grounds. The drop off would be very smooth if everyone used this it correctly. It's enough time to pull in, kiss your children goodbye, unload them and their gear, wave goodbye and leave. Once again please help us with this.

We have another busy term ahead. Keep an eye on the newsletter and in the coming weeks our new website!
