Somerfield Te Kura Wairepo Uniform Policy Students are expected and encouraged to take pride in their general appearance. All students are encouraged to wear the uniform. - Plain red or navy sweatshirt with logo - Navy track pants or shorts - Navy, white or red polo shirts or skivvy - Navy knit shorts (monogrammed) - Navy blue skirts or culottes - Navy or red polar fleece - Brimmed sun hat (compulsory as per our Sunsmart policy) - Navy polar fleece beanie - Hijab (head covering) must be school colours or red, white or navy - Leggings, tights, thermal tops must be school colours as above - Hair ties, bows, headbands must also be school colours The school monogram on uniform items is optional. The uniform is available from Koru Textile. Second hand uniform articles are available at the PTA uniform sale each term. The only jewellery permitted at school is a wristwatch, medical alert bracelet, taonga (bone or greenstone carving), and /or a single ear stud in each ear. Parents with queries or who wish their child to wear significant cultural or religious pieces of jewellery should contact the principal. If the wearing of any jewellery item becomes a safety issue it will be discussed with parents. The school takes no responsibility for these items. The consequence of continual breaching the dress code is that the principal will contact the parent to rectify. Make up is not permitted at school, this includes nail polish. Footwear School shoes must be practical and safe for active children. Flat shoes in brown, black, blue or white are acceptable. Students should not wear jandals, platform shoes, or boots that come above the ankle. If footwear is not suitable, a note will be sent home. Sports uniform - The sports uniform is supplied by the school and is compulsory for any student selected to represent the school at sports. Choir uniform Students in the choir will wear the supplied shirt.
