Our newest learners to school are learning the routines and making new friends in the process. It is great to see them in their learning groups with the teacher. These groups provide small group teaching to support their next steps for learning. Children are learning the names of the letters, how to write them and the sound they make. When they are not working with the teacher they are able to play literacy games or even work with some teacher aids.

In Year 1 the children have been learning the time, days of the week and the months. They made a clock and are starting to learn how to tell the time. They have been reading a big book. In the afternoons the children walked around the interior of the hall and located their house colors, read and discussed the information for each house. While they were in the hall they also discussed their team name and looked at the waka.
