Data and Reporting to Parents

We measure progress against the NZ Curriculum in all areas through Snapshots, but highlight the three core areas of Reading, Writing and Maths in the mid-year written report.

We measure progress against the NZ Curriculum in all areas through Snapshots, but highlight the three core areas of Reading, Writing and Maths in the mid-year written report.

We use Curriculum levels 1-5, with each divided into three parts to show progress: B - beginning, M - middle, E - end.

Year 1 and 2- Level 1

Year 3 and 4- Level 2

Year 5 and 6- Level 3

Year 7 and 8- Level 4

While we do some testing, the main ways we find what levels children work at are through observation, working with them daily and having regular learning conversations with them. Teachers collect evidence to combine an overall teacher judgement (OTJ). This table shows how curriculum levels typically relate to years at school. Not all students fit this pattern.

It would be expected that children may stay at the same level especially at the end and beginning of each level.
