Welcome back Archie!

It was an inspiring Tuesday lunchtime at Somerfield Te Kura Wairepo this week as we welcomed back a familiar face, former student Archie Limu-Franklin! Archie, who was a former student, came to speak to our newly formed Pasifika leadership group.

This exciting new initiative, meeting on Tuesdays at lunchtime, aims to foster leadership skills and cultural pride among our Pasifika students. Archie shared his journey and talked about his successes, offering valuable insights and demonstrating what can be achieved through dedication and a strong sense of identity. He also spoke powerfully about what it means to be Pasifika, connecting with our students on a deeply personal and cultural level.

We are incredibly grateful to Archie for taking the time to share his experiences and inspire the next generation of Pasifika students at Somerfield Te Kura Wairepo. His visit was a fantastic start to what promises to be a very impactful group.

A huge thank you also goes out to Jacob and Tash, who are both dedicating their time and energy to supporting this group and helping it thrive within our school.

We are always looking for ways to strengthen our community connections and support our students. If there are any other people in our community who feel they could offer support, share their stories, or contribute to our Pasifika group in any way, please don't hesitate to reach out to k.englefield@somerfield.school.nz. We would love to hear from you!
