Snapshots

Julie Bassett —

Snapshots are one way we report to parents and caregivers throughout the year.

Snapshots are one way we report to parents and caregivers throughout the year. This is an example of real time reporting where you can get an insight throughout the term rather than just waiting for the mid term written report. Last week you would have received writing samples through the school app. Thank you to all the parents who commented on their child's learning. The most important part of the sample is the conversations between the child and the caregiver. In the junior school the teachers provide a comment about the learning and as the children move up the school they begin to reflect on their own learning supported by conversations with their teachers and peers. This is an important part of the learning for children. Getting feedback, reflecting and thinking about their next steps encourages children to take responsibility for their own learning. Teachers are constantly modeling this process through small group teaching.Parent partnerships are an important part of our work at Somerfield Te Kura Wairepo. Thank you for your continued support in developing strong partnerships with the school.
