Pink Shirt Day

Julie Bassett —

by Lewis Akiyama

Last Friday, we had to wear a pink shirt for Pink Shirt Day. Not only a pink shirt but we wore something else that’s pink. We were wearing pink shoes, pink tutus, pink hats, pink socks, pink sneakers, pink glasses, pink wigs and pink beanies. The teachers and teacher aides were wearing lots of pink too!

In 200, two students in Nova Scotia, Canada saw someone bullying their friend because he was wearing a pink shirt. So they decided to make a stand against the bullies for their friend and bought pink shirts for their friends to wear at school the next day. Now pink shirt day is celebrated in almost one hundred and eighty countries. We raised $744.70. The money will go to the pink shirt day charity.

Thank you to everyone who helped out by wearing pink and donating money. It was great to see lots of children having a great time wearing pink.
