Message from the Tumuaki
He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa - Warm greetings to all.
Over the last week it has been a hive of activity at Somerfield Te Kura Wairepo where we have been able to connect with you. The Cross Country was a highlight, as were the Whānau Connects. Thank you for your support of our staff and tamariki this term. We have had a very positive start to 2024.
Just a reminder that the Spellathon comes home today. See the article further in the newsletter. Please support this as the funds raised go towards the "icing on the cake" item for the school. Operational grants only cover the basics!
As we head into our winter term of ills and chills it makes us mindful that the best place for unwell children is at home. If they are sent to school unwell we will be sending them home as we are not equipped to look after very unwell children. Children with sniffles or mild coughs can come to school and we have masks they can wear. But anything more serious impacts on other children and the teaching staff. With an ongoing teacher shortage we are mindful about illness in the school setting.
I hope you get some time to spend with your children over the break and remember in the second week the grounds will be closed for tree maintenance. The Studholme Street field will be closed on the 22, 23 & 24 April and Somerfield Street field is closed 26 April.
