Julie Bassett —

We like to celebrate the achievements of our tamariki being active. If your child has made an achievement we would love to hear about it. Please send an email with the achievement details and a photo if applicable to Dave Harrison: d.harrison@somerfield.school.nz

Benji Williams got second at a golf tournament on Sunday, the nine-hole section of the Futures Junior Open at Rangiora. He shot 48 over his nine holes, for 28 stableford points - one point behind the winner.

Waka Tētē Swimming Championship

Good luck to our team of swimmers who are travelling to Wharenui Pool on Friday morning. Children who are competing must meet outside Room 4 at 8.50am ready for a roll call.

Year 5 and 6 Friday winter sports

Trials for winter zones sports are to be held during Weeks 9/10 of this term (exact days TBC). This is for the winter sports teams who will be travelling weekly to Hagley Park to compete in the Primary schools competition which begins in Term 2 and runs to the middle of Term 3. We will be selecting two football, two netball, two hockey teams and one rugby team (dependent on availability of coaches). Players will need to be committed to a weekly training session in their lunch break as well as competing in the Friday competition. Please note there is a cost involved. The cost covers the weekly bus transport. Playing uniforms are supplied by the school.

Trials will be held during lunch breaks in Weeks 9 and 10. Children will be asked to sign up closer to the date. Final teams will be announced during the last week of the term, and training sessions will commence Week 1 of Term 2.

COACHES WANTED: If you are interested in coaching a hockey, netball, rugby or football team please email Dave Harrison asap d.harrison@somerfield.school.nz.

Please note rugby coaches are required to be certified.
