Message from the Tumuaki

Denise Torrey —

He mihi mahana kia koutou katoa - Warm greetings to all.

We have learned a lot in the last year while dealing with this pandemic. This was evident on Monday when we moved to Alert Level 2 on Sunday night and our community took it in their stride. Sadly, Alert Levels seem to be a way of life for us now so your help in making things happen quickly is critical in helping us do our job to keep everyone in our school safe.

If you haven't done so already please download the tracing APP and turn on bluetooth. Scan when coming to school in  Alert Level 2 and above. It was clear from the last two out breaks up north that they could move to contain these quickly due to the use of the tracing APP.

We also need to be able to contact you quickly so if you haven't downloaded the school APP please do so and check on your friends to see they have it.

We are well planned in case we go up Alert Levels at any stage but we do need your help. If you need a device or learning materials in a kit then please fill in the survey if you haven't already done so.

Thank you to those of you who joined the Whānau Evening last Friday. The tug of war were obviously a highlight for our tamariki and whānau. The staff were disappointed in their effort. We have decided we are much better at waka racing.

Waka Kōpapa and Waka Tēte braved the inclement weather on Tuesday to participate in Top Team. This event is run by Sport Canterbury and gives the tamariki an opportunity to work as a team to solve problems. A great time was had by all!!

I have had repeated feedback from the teachers about the skill level of this years road patrols. Yesterday Constable Ross completed their refresher course on Wednesday and was most impressed with them. High praise indeed. Well done, road patrollers!
