Message from the Tumuaki

Denise Torrey —

He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa - Warm greetings to all

Congratulations to Strum Strike and Blow musical group who performed last night. Not only did our musicians get to perform as a school but the combined Kahukura group did so well at rehearsal they were asked to perform at the evening performance.  Unfortunately I was unable to make it, my loss but my spies in the audience sent me photos of Somerfield and we are all very proud of them.

It is wonderful to see our young musicians getting opportunities to perform. Many thanks to Ally Palmer and her team for preparing our tamariki for their performance.

This group, our choirs, chorale, music programmes and keyboard lessons that are offered this year have certainly had a bit of a hit with COVID but we are excited that in November Kahukura will showcase our many talents for our communities.

We also had a very successful day at the Zone Athletics with our hockey team moving through to the Central sports competition.

Best wishes to our basketball teams who are competing in the Central Basketball Tournament on Monday.

Next week is our Book Fair. This fair is held in the hall and open 8:30 - 9:30am and 2:30-3:30pm. Thank you ahead of the time to those who are helping Julie Welbeloved and our librarian, Anne to sell the books. Today your child will bring home information on what is for sale and their wish lists. We look forward to seeing you at the fair. Please wear a mask.

You will now have an opportunity to vote for our Board of Trustees so check out the profiles elsewhere in this newsletter.
