Ramadan

Julie Bassett —

This article is written by two of our year 6 students. Their names are Sarah and Kainat.

Ramadan is a thing that muslim people do and they have to fast for the entire day and they can start eating at 6:20pm.

If they eat or drink their fasting is over they can't fast any more.

Every day we have yummy food and different foods from Afghanistan.

In Syria or in Turkey they are all together on Ramada.

Turkey food is sucuk, kavurma, dried green beans, eggplant and red peppers, various pickles, cheese and oil, soup and kababa.

If you are sick you don’t have to do it or if you are too old and you don’t have to do it. If you are a baby or if you are 2 to 5 year old. You can start when you are in year 2, 4, 5, 6.

And there is a thing called tarawih and you pray on tarawih. You need to pray 20 times and you do it at night after 9:00pm and you need to wake up at 4:00 am and we stop at 5:00 am.
