Road Patrollers Message

Julie Bassett —

Please read the following article.

On your journey to and from school, you will have noticed our road patrollers helping you cross the road. These tamariki are trained by NZ Police, and have a legal right to stop traffic. If you are crossing at these crossings, we ask that you wait until the road patroller gives the signal to cross. They will say "cross now", and lower their arm when it is safe. If you are in a vehicle, and there are children waiting to cross (even if the signs are in), you are required to stop and allow the patrollers to put their signs out. Please note that one road patroller may have their sign out, while the other side is waiting for a gap in traffic. This is how the patrollers have been trained, and traffic is required to stop when safe.
Thank you for your support.
