Message from the Tumuaki

Denise Torrey —

He mihi mahana kia koutou katoa - Warm greetings to all

It's been a busy couple of weeks for the tamariki and their kaiako. This week was no different. Thank you to those who attended the Learning Journey's. It was great to see our youngest learners articulate their learning! I had the privilege of stepping in and being on a Learning Journey with a very new New Entrant and was proud of him and his kaiako as he took me through the journey. I'm quite good at "gonoodle" apparently!

If you were unable to make it your child's kaiako we will be in touch to make a time to catch up.

This week we also had visit to Turanga by Mokihi as part of their building unit and you'll see some of their ideas of what cities need in the following pictures. Kopapa also set off into the city to see what buildings and spaces are part of our city. I'm looking forward to hearing about their learning as I visit their spaces.

Thank you to all the parent helpers who joined our spaces on their trips.

Next week a group of Year 5's visit the City Council as part of their learning, so it's all go!

A highlight of the week has been the opening this week of our bike track. Our tamariki have watched it unfold from the beginning of the term and waited patiently for the opening. Grass has been laid (we just need warm weather for it to grow) and we have considerable planting to be carried out. New signage, entrance path and gates will finish off this part of our projects!

Good luck to our basketballers who compete on Monday at the Central Competition and our Cross Country team who compete at the Central Cross Country on Wednesday. It's a great result to get this far so we hope they enjoy their competitions.

A big thank you to the PTA who funded the Playhouse Theatre group who performed for our tamariki today.

I reflect that we can only do these things as our country was super vigilant about COVID and remember that members of our community sacrificed a lot so we can now be in  Alert Level 1. We need to stay vigilant so please.
