Message from the Tumuaki

Denise Torrey —

He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa - Warm greetings to all.

This week has been busy for the office ensuring that we are ready to comply with the Mandatory Vaccination order on 15 November. Thank you to all of you who have provided your documentation.

Anyone who is at school and front facing children, including volunteers have to be vaccinated, this includes coaches, sausage sizzlers, any other parents helpers  as well as  all the professionals who work on site.

This week was also momentus for the Year 5's and 6"s who had their celebration videoed to share with their whānau when it has been edited.

We are trying to provide some certainty for our events while we wait to go to Green on the new traffic light system. We haven't yet been told what it might look like but we are hoping for more flexibility.

In the meantime we have to plan so..

Art Exhibition, you will be sent a link and it will be on the website.

Year 6 Cycle Safety goes ahead as all the instructors meet the requirements

End of Year Assemblies 11th and 17th December - under current Alert levels- will be staff and children only outside if fine and a video link available.

Year 6 Leavers - under current Alert Levels will go ahead with children and vaccinated guests only and live streamed to parents.

These assemblies can be easily changed if there is a change to allow parents to attend. So our fingers are crossed!!

End of Year trips require another  level of planning so we have made a decision on these now.

Waka Kōpapa and Mōkihi will now have a festival day here at school on 9 December. WE are excited about what we have planned for our tamariki!

Year 5 and 6 carry on with their planned days. Year 5 - tent day and Year 6 Omaka on 14 December.

It will be disappointing if our assemblies do not happen with our whānau joining us but our job as parents and educators will be to ensure our tamariki are resilient as this is our reality in the current situation.

Travel Plan

We are working with the City Council on a school travel plan. To help us develop this please fill in the survey before Monday. The plan aims to:

* Improve the safety of school travel

* Reduce the level of congestion at the school gates

* Encourage more walking, cycling and scooting to and from school

* Improve the health and wellbeing of our tamariki
