Science Experiment

Julie Bassett —

By Cordelia

For the first experiment I was investigating what was the best kitchen product to clean coins.

I tried soapy water, vinegar, salt and vinegar and salty water.

I found that salt and vinegar cleaned the coins the best.

Then I tried coke and a coin but it didn't clean it so I am leaving it in the coke for the night to see if it cleans it.

For the next experiment I mixed water, oil and food colouring.

Result: It looked like the sea because the blue food colouring swirled through the water.

For the third experiment I mixed water and oil.

My hypothesis was that the water would turn yellow

Results: The oil floated on the top of the water.
My hypothesis was wrong.

For my fourth experiment I mixed vinegar and baking soda.

My hypothesis was that it would explode

Results: It exploded all over the table.

The baking soda made it really bubbly.

Then I tried mixing baking powder with vinegar.

It bubbled but not as much as vinegar and baking soda.

For my fifth experiment I added water and oil to the glass and then I added cornflour.

Results: The cornflour bubbled to the bottom then bubbled to the top.

My favourite experiment was the last one because it was really fun watching the cornflour bubbling.

I learnt that oil floats on water no matter how much you mix it because water is heavier than oil.
