Message from the Tumuaki

Denise Torrey —

Thank you to all of you who managed to get to your child's Reconnecting Learning Conference this week. Your child's teacher will be in touch with those who were unable to make it and make a time to meet. The children I spoke to were very happy and found the conferences were a very positive experience, even if the goals set, in some cases, were stretchy ones!!

The cold days aren't over even though we have been lulled into thinking they are. Cold weather makes our tamariki very hungry! Can you please ensure your child has plenty of food to help them ward off the cold.

Best wishes to our teams who are competing in the Zone Winter Tournament on Tuesday. We haven't had a lot of time to put these teams together but we hope they have a great day and represent our school with pride.

Next Wednesday we have a large group of  students performing at the Strum, Strike and Blow Concert. Good luck to Ella Brandt Nguyen, Hana McIntosh, William Finch, Maia McIntosh, Jemima Hemingway, Felicity Sewell, Reuben Chisholm, Hazel Rutherford, Elsie Bedford, Emma Bobichon, Max Tinirau, Sadie Boniface, Lavinia Jones and Cordelia Jones. Best wishes to this group of musicians.

Week 4 we have our Book Fair. This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase quality books to further encourage your child to read as well as for birthdays and Christmas presents. The fair will be open between 8:30- 9:30 and 2:30- 3:30pm 15 - 19 August. Next week your child will bring home the brochure with the titles you can purchase. For every book you purchase Scholastic donates a percentage to our library for new books. Everyone is a winner!!

Also check out the Father's Day/Superheroes card making competition.
