Invitation to all

Tena koe i tenei ata

I just wanted to touch base with you to talk about the Family Violence Education groups that we run here at Aviva, within the Canterbury Region. As you may know, we run groups for both adults and tamariki during school terms. We are presently preparing for our Term 4, 2022 groups. Topics covered in the adult group during the term include

· Goal Setting + Process of change

· Auditing a relationship

· Power and control wheel

· The four agreements

· The cycle of violence

· The cycle of grief and loss

· Effects and impact of abuse

· Guilt - over-developed sense of responsibility

· Boundaries

· Anger - key concepts

· Why do women stay?

· Effects of violence on children

We would adapt these topics into a relevant programme for the tamariki.

Sessions run over two hours for tamariki and three hours for adults. They include a break for kai and chat during the session.

“Appreciated the programme, you guys are amazing,
both my kids didn’t want it to end”. Parent

“It’s been so worthwhile, thank you”. Adult client

“Beautifully run, really supportive, wonderful facilitators,
thank you”. Adult client

We are currently open for referrals for group participants for Term 4. Priority will be given to clients with a protection order, but we do have some spaces for other clients.

Programme duration – 9 weeks

We have spaces in both our Christchurch and North Canterbury Groups. Groups may also be considered in other townships depending on referrals received.

Please do not hesitate to call Iris to discuss possibilities or for more information or if you want to refer to our group, please email iris.r@aviva.org.nz or call Iris on 022 1570 143.

Alternatively, you can complete one of the referral forms in our website here Aviva - Strengthening communities (avivafamilies.org.nz).

We look forward to hearing from you.
