Science Extravaganza Day

Julie Bassett —

Monday, 22 July 2019

On Monday July 22, the first day back for Term 3, Somerfield Te Kura Wairepo held a science extravaganza day. We had more than 16 volunteers, many of whom were parents of children at school, come to school to offer exciting science workshops for our children. Some of the topics covered on Monday were non-neutonian fluids, how to take care of your heart, erosion, the science of gelatine, geology, Radiation and x-ray, sun safety and UV, fungus and spores, different types of milks and proteins, fossils, water insects and ecology... and many, many more topics! We are incredibly grateful to all of our volunteers who gave up their time to come and give our children such wondering enriched experiences in Science. We are very much looking forward to delving deeper into Science this term and look forward to where the kids take their learning in Term 3.
