Our team of 12 Y5/6 runners represented Somerfield at the Southwest Zone Cross Country event at Halswell Quarry on Wednesday. Evie Scherp won the Y6 girls race, devouring the hill while we had a 2nd, 3rd, 4th trifecta in the Y6 boys race with Levi Weston followed home by Daichi Morioka and Lucas Winchester. These runners all qualified for the Canterbury champs along with Guy Moore (6th) and Pedro Machado Wado (8th) in the Y5 boys race and Isla Williams (11th) in the Y5 girls race.

Congratulations to our other runners for giving it their all on a challenging course: Mia McHarg, Freya Askew, Sarrah Mohamed, Lia Salvado and Kaleb Te Aho-Hampton.Thanks to our parent helpers for transporting our runners to the Quarry: Lisa Winchester, Bridget Scherp, Sarah Moore and Kate Askew.
