E ngā whānau katoa o Te Kura Wairepo. Tēnā koutou katoa.
Message from Nicky Horne
This week has been a busy one across the school with lots of things happening. It has been great that the weather has been warm enough and the grounds dry enough for students to make the most of the playgrounds whether they are on the equipment or playing games - there is a constant buzz at break times!
Kōpapa and Tētē have been swimming. When I chatted to students they let me know they were loving the opportunity to participate in the lessons. I have noticed they are rather tired when they get back to school!
Mrs Englefield and Mr Caigou represented Somerfield Te Kura Wairepo in Wellington over the last couple of days to share the successful Poutama Reo tool. Poutama Reo promotes equity and excellence, barrier free access to Māori language, culture and identity for all students. It provides a tool for English Medium School to assess where they are at in their journey of teaching the language of Te Reo and provides practical next steps to improve the use of the language in schools. This is a very exciting time in education and coincides with the 50 year anniversary of the Māori Language partition in Wellington. The children at Somerfield Te Kura Wairepo have an amazing opportunity to learn Te Reo throughout their time at school. We are committed as a school to support the revitalisation of Te Reo in Aotearoa.
