School App

Julie Bassett —

Important - please read.

It is great to see more people signing up to the app. At the moment the majority of children have one person signed up. It is good to have two, as we know workplaces/lives can get busy. There are many reasons why an app will not give alerts for different apps and it is difficult for the school to know why. We have sent concern to our provider and here are some tips from them that you can try to get your alerts working
* Some android phones don't receive notifications for some apps when their battery optimization lists the app.

Disable battery optimization for affected apps

Some OEMs with their custom Android skins tend to go a bit overboard with the battery optimization. Besides the usual battery optimization that will reduce app activity in the, they come with certain managers that prevent apps from auto-starting or working in the background.

Follow these steps to disable battery optimization for apps that don’t show notifications:

Navigate again to Settings > Apps and open an app.
Choose Battery optimization.
Disable optimization for the app that’s not providing you with notifications.
If available, turn on the Auto-start option.

* Check the settings Go to '@school app' & click on Setting icon to enable notification alert

Go to 'Settings' icon on their phone/Notification/Enable alert for @school

Check if notification is enabled on their chrome browser

Check their sound settings on their mobile.

We have had some parents tracked by our provider (to get to the bottom of why the alerts are not working), if you would like to be tracked, please send an email to k.englefield@somerfield.school.nz and we can get that organised for you.
