Families feel part of the programme at Fairlie Kindergarten
“We joined the kindy for its strong community connections. I absolutely love being able to be a part of that community by contributing to the kindergarten programme”. Lauren Horne- Kindergarten parent.
One of our curriculum priorities for learning at Fairlie Kindergarten is whānaungatanga which translates to relationships. By nurturing and valuing responsive and reciprocal relationships with families we are working together to maximise the learning success of our children. We nurture a strong culture of families/whānau participating and contributing their unique strengths interests and skills to the learning programme at Kindergarten. Recently, Ruby’s Mum, Lauren Horne spent an afternoon with children to prepare a beautiful apple crumble for their afternoon tea. Lauren also enjoys spending time reading to small groups. Families/whānau continuously make valued contributions to life at the kindergarten through their involvement on the committee, through supporting excursions in the community and through sharing their aspirations for their children’s learning with us. There is a strong sense that this place belongs to all - “Poipoia te kakano kia puawai, nurture the seed and it will blossom”.
