Hanan Kindergarten tamariki developing physical literacy

Leesa Reeves —

Kaiako provide resources and equipment that encourage spontaneous play and the practicing of skills, both individually and in small groups.

Action songs have been very popular amongst the tamariki, listening and following the directions of the music to explore different ways to move our tinana/bodies.

Tamariki use their whole bodies in dance, gesture and imaginary play, and there are regular opportunities for group experiences in music and movement

Lots of physical skills practiced using carpentry, bat and ball skills especially mastering fine motor skills, hand eye coordination, flexibility.

The importance of tamariki exploring and testing their physical abilities through engaging in play, including using real tools as tamariki learn from and alongside each other.
