Annual pet parade at Fairlie Area Kindergarten.
The annual pet parade is one of the most anticipated events on the kindergarten calendar with tamariki, family and whānau coming together in this environment to celebrate a special relationship with their pets.
This event is steeped in tradition as it has been occurring at kindergarten annually for many decades and continues to be a highlight for everyone. Included in this tradition is the annual bagpiping performance by a long-standing Fairlie resident and piper, Mr Colin McKinnon and this year also accompanying him was past parent Mr Peter Johnson.
The annual pet parade supports making meaningful links with people, places and things, in particular, the links between the child's home and learning community. This is valued learning at kindergarten and supports our localised curriculum priority of whānaungatanga/relationships - kind and caring, respectful relationships between people, places and things.
