Tamariki at Kōwhai gathered Tī Kōuka leaves and we made ‘coconut brooms’ with them.

This experience prompted stories of when tamariki were in their countries of birth, how Grandma used one, how Mum used to make them, and the like.

This promoted not only connection to Papatuānuku and Kōwhai but their own individual cultures and be able to retell their stories to us all.
