Kowhai Kindergarten Children, Kaitiaki Caring For Our Place

Kowhai Kindergarten —

It has been all action in our Kowahi Garden. There has been a keen team of workers that have joined together to investigate what seasonal tasks need to be completed.

We have been nourishing our vegetable gardens with compost from our worm farm and we have protected this soil with pea straw. Rongo the Atua of Cultivated Foods has guided our work ethic and respect for the land is at the heart of this environmental learning.

We have also focused our attention on the creatures that share our space and have been creating bird cakes for our feathered friends. We have used our bird watching tent to look at and listen to the movements/actions and communication of the birds that have taken up our invitation to visit Kowhai Kindergarten.

Our team of workers have displayed capability and independence. They have completed and revisited tasks independently and are developing scientific knowledge and   life long sustainable practices as they work alongside their friends
