St John Education programme @ Fairlie Kindergarten

Julianne Sutherland —

Sasha Frame representing St John in School Education Programme recently visited Fairlie Kindergarten to deliver an interactive session aimed at empowering and educating tamariki about the role of this important emergency service in our community.

Using photographs and through discussion, tamariki are taught to recognise the different emergency services and their various roles. They looked at and discussed the different types of safety clothing worn by the ambulance crew and why, and are taught to understand the role of the ambulance and crew through interacting with a range of equipment such as the oxygen tank.

This programme aims to alieviate any fear that tamariki may hold about the ambulance and its role. Tamariki were confident to share their knowledge and experiences of the ambulance and following the visit put their skills and knowledge into practice through role play.

We are most grateful to Sasha Frame who delivered this worthwhile programme.
