“We are going on a blueberry trip; we are going to pick some big ones…...”

Ranui Kindergarten kaiako and tamariki could not have asked for a better day for our annual trip to out to pick blueberries.

“We are going on a blueberry trip; we are going to pick some big ones…...”

Tamariki and kaiako sung this song throughout the morning eagerly waiting for the time the bus would arrive. Finally after an early morning tea we were informed by enthusiastic tamariki that the bus was indeed here.

The ride out to Blueberry Haven allowed us to view the countryside, we were up so high in the bus. When we arrived down the long driveway of Blueberry Haven we spotted some of our other kindergarten friends who had come out with their mums.

Now the challenge began, each child had a cup to full and add to our large container which we brought back to kindergarten. Many tamariki enjoyed the blueberries and went back to kindergarten with very full tummies!! The blueberries we brought back will be used over the next few months in baking and even maybe making ice cream using them.
