Community Garden Efforts

Kindergarten tamariki and kaiako popped over to the community gardens along with the school tamariki. There we met William Beauchamp as he talked briefly about the gardens and helped us to plant Māori potatoes.

Do you know that these gardens next door to kindergarten are for the whole community and anyone is allowed to plant and harvest there?

It is the intention of the school and kindergarten to start supporting these gardens to grow so that the community can be fed.

We loved our time over there and we will return every fortnight to re-cover the potatoes with more soil so they can grow. We also intend to keep working on the gardens with the school tamariki, building whanaungatanga as we work together.
