Lake Tekapo Kindergarten — November 5, 2024
Six tamariki from Lake Tekapo Kindergarten were asked to go to Tekapo School to see Rudd the Bug-Man talk about some bugs.
Firstly, Rudd showed the Tamariki a Weta he had in his special jar. All the Tamariki were so brave and felt comfortable having the Weta crawl on their hand or up their arms. The Tamariki thought it was very funny when the Weta crawled up Rudds face and over his glasses. 😎
We then went for a bug adventure outside where Rudd showed us his big butterfly net. We walked around the school field pretending to vacuum up the grass but really, we were catching little grass bugs. There were so many little grass bugs and flies.
Our next adventure was finding an old tree stump behind the playground which had bits of the bark broken off. The Tamariki loved digging in the bark with their hands looking for worms, spiders and slugs. Some of the Tamariki found some spiders and worms which they enjoyed bringing back to show the rest of their kindergarten friends.
