Principal's Pen
Connections and partnerships are essential to a successful school.
PTA
I would like to extend a huge "Thank you" to the PTA for their energy organising the BINGO evening which was held at the Hornby Workingmen's Club last Friday evening. This was a very enjoyable evening and well-supported by our community. The committee works hard to earn extra funds to help supply extras to support out tamariki and their learning.
Next term the PTA are funding an Elgregoe show for all of our students here at school.
This Thursday the PTA will have hot chocolate for sale. Hot chocolate will be $1.00 and Cookie Time rookie cookies will also be on sale for $1.00. Orders will be taken in the hall on Thursday from 8.30am until 9.00am.
Kapa Haka at Broadfields
Our Kapa haka performed at Broadfields School last week on a very cold and miserable Friday. They performed with pride and demonstrated great resilience and determination. What a fabulous group of tamariki. I was very proud of you all!
We endeavour to keep this city / country school partnership alive to the benefit of both schools.
Whānau Hui
Thank you to the parents and children who came to share our progress towards making our school the best it can be to meet the needs of our Māori tamariki and for sharing their aspirations for the future. Your thoughts will be worked with as we develop future strategic plans.
Matariki
We will be celebrating Matariki on the 4th July. This will begin with a picnic with your children at 1.00pm - (please bring your own kai). Classrooms will be open to wander through from 1.30 - 2.30pm. Come and share the learning your children have been doing over the term . From 2pm, for those who bring kites we will have a kite flying session on the back field. There will be prizes for:
- The highest flying kite
- The longest flying kite
- The most original home-made kite
- The kite with the best Matariki designs
Interviews
Interviews with your child and their Home room teacher are on this week; Tuesday and Wednesday. If you have missed booking an interview time, either contact Sandra at the office or your child's home room teacher.
Sickness
There is a lot of illness in the school at the moment. If your child is feeling unwell, keep them home to recovery to avoid spreading illness. Please remember to ring in and leave a message with Sandra or via the website.
Ngā mihi ki a koutou,
Wendy Huriwai - Tumuaki
