Principal's Pen
Nau mai, hoki mai, Welcome back to Term 2. This week has been extremely rewarding for me meeting staff, students and their whānau. What a fabulous place to be!
I thank you for the continued welcome and the many parents who have come in to introduce themselves. Our school values underpin the way we are at South Hornby School - Te Manu Tukutuku. The four values are, 'Choose Your Attitude', 'Be There' , 'Make their Day' and 'Play.'
For the first three weeks we are having a big focus on "Play." Teachers are joining our tamariki in the playground to play and have fun. Our value of play can also be demonstrated throughout the school day in the following ways:
- Being creative and curious;
- Challenging yourself and 'giving it a go' in all situations; and
- Having fun, laughing, sharing and celebrating with others.
Teachers are looking out for tamariki showing these values to reward them with 'Thank you' and 'Wonder Weka' tickets.
It is with great pleasure that we welcome Miss Genevieve Williamson to our staff. She is teaching in the Rāupo learning space and brings with her good knowledge of Te Reo Māori . Please introduce yourself with a warm South Hornby welcome.
Nāku noa nā,
Wendy Huriwai
