What a WEEK!!!!!

Simon Moriarty —

Wow! Last week without doubt was one of the highlights of my career in Education. To see the looks of excitement, pride and astonishment on the faces of our students, staff and community when the doors of the new school opened for the first time made the last four years all worth it!!!

We have such a special environment that is purpose built for all of our students to achieve and have fun both inside and outside of the classroom. Already teachers have noted the higher levels of care, respect and responsibility our students have modelled towards their learning, the environment and with each other. We have stressed the importance of our students being guardians of our new school and ensuring they protect it so others can enjoy it in years to come. Below is a few photos of the opening day of South Hornby School Te Manu Tukutuku.

Another notable highlight was the two open days we held for the wider Hornby Community and fellow teachers and school leaders. It was great seeing old friends and colleagues who have had a long association with SHS. It was amazing to hear all the positive feedback.

I am really enjoying being back in the "Principals Chair", however I would like to take the opportunity to thank Mrs Harris-Tatana for doing an outstanding role as Acting Principal.

Remember that Term 4 is flat out with lots of events and exciting opportunities for our students. Please stay on top of all the upcoming events which are listed in this eNewsletter.

Finally don't forget to stay in touch with your students classroom teachers to discuss any ideas, positives or issues you might have. Our door is always open to make an appointment.

Have a great Term 4 one and all.

Cheers

Simon
