Manaiakalani Principals' Wānanga
At the end of October Wendy Huriwai and myself were fortunate to attend the 7th annual Wānanga with our Manaiakalani principals, outreach principals, researchers, partners and school leaders.
This was a great day of learning as we joined with colleagues from not only our Uru Mānuka (Hornby) cluster as well as those from around New Zealand and looked into what we have all been learning and experiencing together.
We looked at assessment data from all the Manaiakalani schools, listened to presentations from teachers involved in the Innovative Teachers programme this year, found out about devices for 2023, and began planning for the new year within our Uru Mānuka (Hornby) cluster.
Happy to chat if you want to know more about our involvement in the Manaiakalani Outreach Programme.
Manaiakalani is a long-established community of learners who engage collaboratively to increase student outcomes through applied evidence-based improvement in teacher practice. This development is committed to supporting those New Zealand learners and families that find it difficult to access and/or afford local, global and digital citizenship. It is about delivering visible, learner centric learning and de-mystifying education for those learners so that they can stand alongside others as equals in knowledge building in school, in their communities and in wider society.
The Manaiakalani Outreach Programme (that the Uru Mānuka cluster is part of) is an opportunity for Communities of Learning to partner with Manaiakalani to embrace the “Learn, Create, Share” pedagogy along with its digital infrastructures and affordances.
