Sports Report - 11 June 2019

Admin SNBS —

Winter Sport - Thank you so much for all the parents who have come down and supported our teams. This has made such a difference to our students and teams. If you would like to come down and watch some teams, please do so. The draws are on http://www.easterncommunity.co.nz/programme/rcsi-sport-cluster/

Please remind students to bring a warm jacket and hat on Fridays. They must be in PE gear (sports top). They must have water bottles and take their lunch with them.

Basketball:

Introducing the Boys Yr 5&6 Basketball Team the SNBS Shooting Stars: Kieran Abrahams; Cooper Shanks; Mannix Scott; Tyler Lodge; Jamyn Karlytzky; DJ Knuth; Reuben Reynolds; Ben Pearson and Oliver Soper.

The boys are on a winning streak, as they have won their last two games at Cowles stadium.

Their 1st win saw the boys working as a team with a good passing game; especially by the Team Player of the Day Cooper Shanks, who also added 4 points for SNBS. Jamyn Karlytzky created lots of opportunities with 4 steals. Oliver Soper added 6 points; Reuben Reynolds 4 points & Tyler Lodge 2 points. The boys won 16-0 over Marshlands.

For their latest win; all of the boys took shots on the basket, all had rebounds and all of the boys stole the ball from the other team. Oliver Soper was the Team Player of the day this week with an awesome game, which he landed 4 points and a team record for this season so far: 5 rebounds. DJ Knuth, Tyler Lodge & Cooper Shanks all had 4 points each and Reuben Reynolds 2 points. Final score SNBS-18-2 Queenspark Blue. This game showed that the boys are coming together as a team! Go SNBS!

Sports Academy: We were very lucky to have Jemma McCaw come in and talk to us about her Olympic journey. She shared some valuable messages with us and goal setting.
