Bike Fixup Community News
Aranui Bike Fixup has been operating for a whole year. During the weekly Thursday afternoon sessions we have repaired over 200 bikes and restored and given away over 300, and taught fixing skills to lots of local kids, and taken lots of people out for rides. A bit of a celebration seems worthwhile so please come and join us for a birthday cake & cuppa for afternoon tea.
From 3-5pm, Thursday 12th August.

Ever wanted to have a go at Sailing or just see what it is all about?
Turn up at the Pleasant Point Yacht Club, no prior experience or skills needed, just bring your enthusiasm and we will take care of the rest. The calm water of the Christchurch estuary beside South New Brighton is the perfect place to start out in this great sport.
Not sure if sailing will be your thing? There is opportunity to join the learn to sail (LTS) support program any day the club is sailing and have a go at no cost. Come along for a few sessions to try it without commitment to see if you get bitten by the bug. The next sailing day in the current winter program is 21 August, after that the season starts on 18 September with sailing planned at least one day each weekend thereafter. Thinking of coming down? Contact the club the week before to find out the sailing time/day as they vary week to week, and also to help us plan for numbers ahead of the day.
The club also runs focused multiday LTS training events though the season, these are typically 3 to 5 days in duration. The first event is set down for 11-15 October. This course does have an upfront cost which covers membership to the club for the rest of the season and continued access to the LTS every day program and use of the club boats while in that program.
