Year 3, 4 & 5/6 Friday & Year 6 Saturday futureFERNS Netball
This year we have had 39 girls playing in five Teams of futureFERNS Netball.
The Netball season ran for 15 weeks in Term 2 and 3.
Four Teams played on Friday afternoon and the fifth team played on a Saturday morning at The Christchurch Netball Centre in Hagley Park.
The Year 3 All Stars and the two Year 4 Dream Team and Kotuku Team played a modified 5 a-side game. They learnt a new netball skill each week at Thursday or Friday lunchtime practice and on Friday afternoons after school, they travelled to The Christchurch Netball Centre in Hagley Park. Here the girls once again practised their new skill before they played a game of 5-a-side netball, against another school.
The development of the girls Netball skills, Fair Play and great Team Participation has been wonderful to watch over this Netball Season.
Congratulations girls.
Your SNBS Community is very proud of you.

As well as these three Teams in the 5 a-side futureFERNS, we also had two teams entered in the 6 a-side Competition.
The Godwits are a team of five Year 5 and three Year 6 girls, who played each Friday afternoon after school at The Christchurch Netball Centre in Hagley Park. In the 6 a-side competition this year they had 6 wins, 6 losses and 1 draw.
The Seagals are a team of nine Year 6 girls who played each Saturday morning at the Christchurch Netball Centre in Hagley Park. In the 6 a-side competition this year the Seagals had 8 wins and 4 losses.
Both these teams have practiced once a week after school and the growth in their confidence and skills over the 15 rounds of competition has been amazing to watch. You have always tried your best on the Netball court each week and I congratulate you all on your wonderful season.

The futureFERNS Netball programme at SNBS would not have been possible without the awesome support of our Coaches and Parent Helpers. These wonderful parents, grandparents and teachers attended Coaching Workshops, organized the Teams each week, ran the practices, worked out the rotations of the players, took the warm-ups and skill sessions, umpired and kept the score for the games plus they transported players to the courts each week.
I would especially like to acknowledge the following caregivers for their great support with our SNBS futureFERNS Netball Programme this year.
Bronnie King and Steve Kersey who Coached the Y3 All Stars
Kate McLean and Wendy Pope for Coaching the Y4 Dream Team
Toni Strong and Kirsty McIntosh for coaching the Y4 Kotuku
Sharyn Sparks and Jacky Cambie for coaching the Y5&6 Godwits
Amanda Weber and Garry Lennon for coaching the Year 6 Seagals
Thank you
